00:00:00: If your orthodontist said you need microimplants, how would feel about it?
00:00:04: Hey guys!
00:00:05: Today we're diving into a study that reveals what patients actually think before and after getting microimplants from their fears to the final satisfaction.
00:00:15: Let's find out how expectations match up with real life experiences in orthodotic treatment.
00:00:23: When I talk to patients about microimplant The first question is almost always Does It Hurt?
00:00:30: So, we set out to answer that question in a randomized clinical trial.
00:00:35: We recruited twenty-eight young orthodontic patients all of whom needed primolar extractions and anchorage reinforcement for en masse retraction.
00:00:45: Each patient received two microimplants one placed after small tissue punch And the other place directly through gingiva.
00:00:55: We then compared the pain from those two techniques with a pain of standard tooth extraction.
00:01:02: The results were clear.
00:01:04: Extractions were rated as most painful, half patients described them very painful.
00:01:11: Tissue punch was less uncomfortable but the least pain came all from the trans-gingival microimplant placement.
00:01:19: In fact thirty percent of patients felt no pain whatsoever.
00:01:23: Most describe it pressure, not pain.
00:01:26: Interestingly patients had expected much more pain than they actually experienced.
00:01:31: that tells us how much fear and imagination influence pain perception in orthodontics.
00:01:38: from a clinical standpoint these findings are reassuring.
00:01:41: micro implant placement especially transgenival is a quick well tolerated procedure that patients accept readily.
00:01:48: the soft tissue punch adds a step some swelling without any proven advantage.
00:01:56: So today when I place microimplants, i can confidently tell my patients it's far less painful than an extraction and over before you know it.
00:02:06: what matters more is precision hygiene and communication.
00:02:11: When patients understand whats coming anxiety drops.
00:02:16: That's the real takeaway, we can make modern orthodontic anchorage both effective and comfortable.
